The earlier 1.0 ECOboost engines did suffer from a badly designed degas hose. The affected degas hose was made of plastic and vulcanised rubber. This type of degas hose was only installed on Focus MK3 vehicles with 1.0 ECOboost engine that were built between 25-04-2012 and 05-05-2014.
Another common problem with Ford Ecoboost engines is the build-up of carbon that makes the fuel filter to be clogged. Because of this, the issue of low-fuel pressure comes up, hampering the performance of the car. The solution is to clean the fuel pump or replace it. Note that this problem is also common in the Ford Fiesta 2.0 Ecoboost engine.
As mentioned previously, the most popular EcoBoost engine is the 1.0-litre unit, however, the EcoBoost range extends to include larger 1.6-litre and 2.0-litre units that are often found within Ford's SUV range, as well as performance-orientated 1.5-litre and 2.3-litre engines that are at the heart of the Ford Performance range.
This is similar to the teardown of a 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine, where a mechanic believes the wet belt is a poor design. We will keep track of the latest developments in the investigation.
Hoping for some help on a problem with the Engine Warning light coming on Fiesta that my daughter has recently taken ownership of. Warning light came on after she'd driven an initial 200+ miles (on motorway journey), got reset by RAC (there diagnostic screen read-out attached), but then came on again after another 100 miles or so.
