Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 EX DG HSM Lens. Announced at Photokina 2008, the Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 EX DG HSM is by far the oldest (and least expensive) lens in this comparison with a maximum aperture of f/2.8. As Bryan mentions in his full review, it's extremely difficult to summarize this lens' performance in a couple of sentences.
Re: Canon 24-70 f2.8 ii vs Tamron 24-70 f2.8 G2 In reply to Sarm333 • Jun 8, 2018 Hello, just received my Tamron 24-70 f2.8 G2 brand new, the image quality is very close to the canon, the image stab VC is amazing for pictures, but for video it is a crap.
I think 24-70 is a useful range on a crop. 24mm will be equivalent to 38 mm. Between those lenses I will choose 24-70mm over 50 mm prime. 50mm on crop is great for portrait, but I believe you still need another lens to cover wider angle. I often take 50mm to go along with the 24 myself.

Canon reaches a maximum magnification of 1:3.3 at 32mm focal length. The Tamron 28-75 G2 achieves a magnification of 1:10 at its longest focal length at 0.85m (2.8ft.) distance. [+] Filter-thread: 67mm. All the other lenses need bigger 82mm filters. 67mm filters also fit on Tamron’s 17-28mm f2.8 and 70-180mm f2.8 lenses.
