The hottest day (since 1947) in Uppsala was 34.4 degrees (measured in 2018). Hotter than 32 degrees is rare. A typical summer is around 25-30. OTOH our buildings are made to keep heat in, and AC is rare in homes, so 25 degrees in Sweden can sometimes be much worse than 38 degrees in a stone house in Greece 4. Uppsala: Best Place to Retire and Live in Sweden. Uppsala, with a population of 160K, is only 45 miles north of Stockholm. Uppsala is the site of the oldest college in Scandinavia, Uppsala University, which was established in 1477 and serves as the seat of the Church of Sweden.

You can commute to Sthlm by train from Uppsala Central, there are two companies servicing the line, either SJ (swedish railways) or UL/SL (local traffic). SJ has the more comfortable trains+is faster (~45min Uppsala/Sthlm), while UL/SL (~1hr) would also include a subway ticket in Sthlm, making it cheaper for jobs that are not close to a train

You can also take the SJ train from Uppsala. Might be a little faster (for sure more comfortable). Märsta/Väsby is maybe easier to find housing than uppsala but probably quite boring places to live. Central Uppsala is small but lovely, but suburb Uppsala you might as well pick Märsta/Väsby.

Worthwhile Castle in Uppsala. This large castle is the imposing view that one sees when in the downtown area. It is recommended to visit and definitely worthy of some photographs. Review of: Uppsala Castle (Uppsala Slott) Written 13 August 2023.
